Bacterial Vanginosis Quick FAQ’s

If your are suffering from any type of bad feminine odor than I can almost guarantee that you have what is called Bacterial Vaginosis.

Here’s a quick post that should answer some questions you may be having about BV…..

WHAT IS BV……….

Its where the normal PH levels(or normal balance of bacteria) in the vagina are disrupted and then replaced by a over growth of bad bacteria. Some of the symptoms include: A discharge (white, gray, or even light green), itching(inside or outside or even both), pain, burning and lets not forget that fishy vaginal odor.

How common is it……

Bv is very common and about 60 percent of women at one time in there life have it. It is common in women aging from 22 to 45.

How do you get it…….

Well I know this is not the answer that you were hoping for but here it is…….

NO ONE KNOWS!

I know, I know you did not want that answer but below are some ways to try to avoid. Here are something’s that can upset you normal balance of bacteria in the vagina:

  • Having sex with a new partner
  • Having sex with multiple partners
  • Douching
  • Toilet seats
  • Bedding
  • None cotton Thongs
  • Swimming pools

How do you prevent it …….

Scientists don’t completely understand bacterial vaginosis, therefore its kind of hard to find ways to prevent it, but they have gave out a list of guidlelines we can follow to help prevent BV.( Keep in mind that these tips are kind of harsh)

The following basic prevention steps can help you reduce your risk of upsetting the natural balance of bacteria in you vagina and developing by:

  • Be abstinent (I hate this one!)
  • Limit the number of sexual partners (this should be easy for most that all I’m going to say)
  • Do not douche
  • Wear cotton panties
